New Release of fragmentiX Operating System: frXOS-2.10.1

Taking full ownership, our development team put a lot of effort into creating a new user interface tailored exactly to the needs of frXOS, increasing responsiveness, streamlining navigation and leveling up security standards. Rounded off with an overhaul of the WebDAV browser interface and the introduction of PQC algorithms to future proof our update process, the new frXOS 2.10.1 update is another big step forward!

Highlights of frXOS-2.10.1

New GUI

The new graphical user interface comes with many improvements in terms of usability and accessibility. The new interface distributes information better in the available space (for example, the dashboard) and makes functionality directly available (e.g. 3.2 Network interfaces).

We paid attention to the principle of early feedback. This means that users get a response about the validity of the entered value as early as possible. This is achieved by using the latest technology available in web browsers which also improves accessibility features for visually impaired people.

PQC update process

This new release introduces PQC signature algorithms (for PQC key exchange algorithms see our related PQC blog post) to ensure a quantum safe and future proof update process of the fragmentiX appliances.

Encryption of the updates ensures that the content is protected and can only be used by legit owners of a fragmentiX appliance.

We also use this opportunity to publish the sha256 digest/fingerprint of our public key:

WebDAV browser interface

After the experimental introduction of the WebDAV browser interface in frXOS 2.8.0, we have received a lot of constructive feedback. This indicates the importance of easy access to the fragmentiX drives from any device or workstation, without the need of dedicated software to mount/integrate it into the filesystem.

Therefore, we moved this topic higher up on our agenda and started working on the appearance and the reported feature requests. With this release, not only the design but also the functionality and usability have improved substantially. Our development team can be proud of the result published with this release. Not only the design, but also the functionality and usability have improved substantially.
